Southern Combos from MSSU to Play at “Jazz & Pizza” - November 15 in Joplin

Southern Combos to Play at “Jazz & Pizza”

JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - The Southern Jazz Combos from MSSU will be performing at Gusano’s Pizza at 3929 East 7th Street in Joplin beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15.

The performance will feature three student combos performing a variety of selections from the jazz idiom including: How High The Moon, Bag’s Groove, Autumn Leaves, Summertime, All of Me, and Watermelon Man. Vocalists Devri Brook and Brooke Henry will sing Misty, Here’s That Rainy Day, Black Orpheus and other jazz standards.

“This is an opportunity for people in the community to listen to our jazz combos in a more relaxed atmosphere” states Dr. Phillip C. Wise, Director of Jazz Studies. “I encourage folks to come out to relax and enjoy a pizza and listen to some jazz”.

The performance is free and open to the public.

Those wanting to attend are encouraged to make advanced reservations by phoning Gusano’s Pizza at (417) 623-9090.

Be sure to request seating near the jazz combos.
