Fort Scott Community College is hosting it's annual Careers in Construction Week, giving students in the area some hands on experience.
Eighth graders from Bourbon, Crawford and Cherokee County got in on the learning experience on Wednesday.
Carpentry stations were set up for students to use palm sanders, routers, miter saws and drills.
Tools they don't get to use on an every day basis.
"You normally don't have hammers in school or saws, backhoes, all that dangerous stuff so yeah, and, also we got to see real people that are out here and this is their job," says Alex Gorman, an eighth grade student at Fort Scott. This is the fifth year the college has hosted the event.
