World Class Fireworks Presents $250,000 Check to Folds of Honor

Josh Stovall, Regional Sales Manager for World Class Fireworks, presented a $250,000 check to Folds of Honor today at the Foundation’s headquarters in Owasso, Okla., to help fund educational scholarships for military families. Accepting the check was Major Dan Rooney, founder of Folds of Honor, Dakota Peterson, a Folds of Honor scholarship recipient and Dakota’s grandmother, Terra Peterson. Dakota’s father, Army SGT Anthony Peterson, was killed during combat on Aug. 4, 2011, while serving our country in Afghanistan.

World Class Fireworks, known as Jake’s Fireworks locally at more than 250 stores throughout Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Michigan and Missouri, created a “Folds of Honor Firework” that was sold at all locations during the Fourth of July holiday. For each Folds of Honor firework sold ($30 retail), $10 was donated to Folds of Honor.

Folds of Honor provides educational scholarships and other assistance to the children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our great nation. As of January 2012, more than one million dependents have been affected by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of these, 85 percent do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance. Individuals interested in contributing to the Folds of Honor, and those applying for scholarships should go to FoldsofHonor.org.
