Kids model costumes before school parties

Updated:

Its not weather for a parade but that isn't stopping the parade of Halloween costumes at Joplin Schools.

At Soaring Heights Elementary students big and small showed off their costumes, some smiling others roaring as scary creatures. And appreciated by relatives some donning their own disguises. Some costumes were elaborate and bought online while others were home made. There were plenty of super heroes giving kids a chance to show their strength.  And the kids who helped create their own say its part of the Halloween fun and  they're grateful to mom..

Mason Coleman a second grader dressed in a homemade costume becoming Chewbacca from Star Wars. He said, "My mom took me to Hobby Lobby and we got some fabric and made my suit and she got some things for over my shoe. " When asked  how long  it took to make, Mason said, "A couple weeks."
After the costume parade, students had parties in their classrooms.
