Former football Lion Jim Hoots passes away

PRESS RELEASE MSSU: 

The MissouriSouthern athletic department is sad to announce the passing of former footballLion Jim Hoots, who passed away this past Saturday. 

Hoots, aformer defensive end for the Lions in the late 1960's and early 1970's, was thefirst Lion to ever be picked in the NFL Draft. He is one of four Lions to beselected in the draft along with Richard Jordan, Allen Barbre and BrandonWilliams. 

"We aredeeply saddened to hear of Jim's passing," said MSSU Athletic DirectorJared Bruggeman. "Jim truly loved Missouri Southern and was heavilyinvolved in many projects, including Southernfest every year. He will be missedand our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."

Hoots passedaway this past Saturday, October 26th in his home in suburban St.Louis. There will be a memorial service this Saturday, Nov. 2 at 10:00amat St. John's Lutheran Church on 15800 Manchester Rd., Ellisville Mo.
