Robing ceremony held for Pittsburg man newly appointed district court judge

In Pittsburg a robing ceremony was held Friday afternoon for the newly appointed district court judge, Kurtis Loy.

Loy is a graduate of Pittsburg State University and an attorney and senior member of Loy and Sagehorn.

Through his career he's practiced many different areas of law including probate, civil litigation, tax law and family law.

Next week Loy will be returning to his alma mater as the Kansas Supreme Court will hear cases on the campus of Pittsburg State.

    Joplin, MO - A shooting investigation is underway in Newton County. Officers repsponded to a rural area on the southwest side of the city of Joplin around 5 AM. The victim was in a vehicle near the 3500 block of Cherry Road. Authorities say the victim is a 44-year old male and currently in stable condition at Freeman Hospital with two gun shot wounds. Officials say the victim was under the influence of intoxicants or some type of drug and that the incident was most likely a personal conflict....More >>
