Hit and run under investigation in Labette County

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE LABETTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

On November 1, 2013 at 21:59 hrs. 911 Dispatch received a report of a hit & run accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian north of 18000 on US-59.

Upon arrival, officers determined Charles J. Haraughty Jr., Lori M. Haraughty, and infant Rali F. Haraughty were traveling southbound on US-59 when they stopped along the east shoulder to change a flat tire. As Charles proceeded to jack up their vehicle, Lori was in the process of bringing the tire to Charles, when she was struck by a southbound vehicle. The vehicle, described as a dark colored truck, continued southbound and did not stop.

Lori – 45 years of age of Labette City was treated at the scene and then transported to Labette Health by EMS. Charles and Rali were not injured during the incident.
