Joplin City Council approves tower and sidewalk installations

Joplin City Council held a meeting Monday evening. One item that was approved during the meeting was the installation of a new wireless internet connections tower at 2340 South Range Line Road. The request came from Grundy Land Group. The close-to-200-foot tower will serve the Innovation Objects building, which is currently under construction.

The Council also approved two sidewalk projects.

One of them involves installing sidewalks on Newman Road from Florida Avenue to East Business-71. A contract was approved with APAC of Missouri for $159,807.55. 80% of the costs will be covered federally. The rest will come from the Transportation Enhancement funds.

The Kelsey Norman sidewalk project has also been approved. It entails Kansas Avenue from 26th to 30th streets, along 26th from Wisconsin and Vermont Avenues. Snyder Construction won the contract for $199,952.40. 86% of these costs will be covered federally and again, the rest coming from the Transportation Enhancement funds.
