Southern football plays host to Lindenwood-Belleville for Senior Day

The MissouriSouthern football team will step out of MIAA action this week as the Lions playhost to Lindenwood University-Belleville in non-conference action. Kickoff fromFred G. Hughes Stadium in the Robert W. Plaster Sports Complex will be at 2 pm.

TheSeries: This is the first-ever meeting of the two schools. LU-Belleville's maincampus in St. Charles is a member of the MIAA.

AVictory VS.  Lindenwood Would: give the Lions six wins and clinch a winningseason. It would be the first time since 95-97 that the Lions had hadback-to-back winning seasons. It would be the first win in the series with theLynx.

TheDish on the Lynx:LU - Belleville is 3-6 on the season with wins coming over NAIA foes CulverStockton and Central Methodist, as well as a 49-29 win over Division IIKentucky Wesleyan. The Lynx have lost their last five games in a row, includinglosses against Division II opponents Arkansas-Monticello and Quincy. 

QuarterbackKerry Gibson leads the balanced attack for the Lynx as he has 1,098 yards on80-157 passing and nine touchdowns. Anthony Dorsey has also seen action atquarterback, but is mainly used in a rushing situation. Kameron Harris has thebulk of the carries for the Lynx as he has ammased 1064 yards on 170 carriesfor 13 touchdowns. Harvey Binford has  six touchdown receptions, whileDylan Bradley and Evan McFadden have three and two, respectively. 

Defensively,the Lynx are led by TJ Onstott as he has 75 tackles, 42 solo, including 10.5tackles for a loss. Matt Blacharczyk leads the team with six sacks and JahadRiley has a team-high two interceptions. 

Lindenwood-Bellevillewill finish of the regular season next weekend with a game at home againstHaskell. 

WinningSeasons:The Lions are attempting to post back-to-back winning seasons for the firsttime since the 1995, 1996 and 1997 seasons. A win this weekend againstLindenwood would guarantee a winning season for Southern.

NationalLeaders:After seven games, the Lions rank fourth in rushing, while ranking 15th insacks allowed and 22nd in passing efficiency.

MIAALeaders:Southern leads the MIAA in rushing, while ranking third in sacks allowed, andfourth in rushing defense, sacks and total defense.

ToughLeague/Region: Currently there are two undefeated teams in the MIAA and five teamsranked in the top 25 (Northwest Missouri - 2, Pittsburg State - 6, EmporiaState - 10, Washburn - 15, Missouri Western - 22. When you factor in the teamsfrom the rest of Super Region 3, the region has five of the top six teamsnationally, seven in the top 15 and nine teams are ranked in the top 25.  

RegionalRankings: The NCAA's first set of regional rankings came out this week and NorthwestMissouri sits atop the Super Region 3 Poll. Pittsburg State, Emporia State,Washburn and Missouri Western sit 6-9 in the poll.
