Cross country teams head north for 2013 NCAA Central Region Meet

The MissouriSouthern men's and women's cross country teams will travel north to SiouxFalls, SD tomorrow to compete in the 2013 NCAA Division II Central Region Meet,hosted by Augustana University. 

Both teamsare coming off of solid showings at the 2013 MIAA Championships. The Southernmen placed second, just one point behind Central Missouri, while the Lions'women placed fourth.

DoraEastin paced the Lions with a ninth-place finish to earn All-MIAA honors.She finished the 6k course in a time of 22:11.89.

On the men'sside, EricSchott placed fifth, traversing the 8k course in a time of 24:55.58 toearn All-MIAA honors. JakeBenton finished seventh (25:02.95) while AndrewWebster was ninth (25:10.54) and both earned All-MIAA honors. AdrianTodd was 17th with a time of 25:33.30, while TylerRush was 19th in a time of 25:35.24, both earning honorable mentionAll-MIAA.

The Southernmen placed second a season ago at the Region Championships that were held inJoplin. The Lions return nearly all of their scorers from a season ago that sawthe team go on to place 8th at the national championships. 

The Lions'women placed fourth in the Central Region Championships last season and went onto place 20th at the National Championships hosted by Southern in Joplin. 

The Southernmen are currently ranked third in the latest regional poll and 13th in theDivision II national poll. 

The women's6k race begins at 10:30 am and the men's 10k begins at 11:30 am.
