Riverton, KS recognize veterans

Updated:

Veterans in Southeast Kansas were recognized by students in the Riverton School District.  Teachers wanted students to do as much of the preparations for this event as possible, to show veterans students care.  Students did a presentation and introduced veterans by name.  Riverton students say today's work came from the heart.

"We, as the people of the United States of America, benefit from the actions that they perform.  And we should recognize them for their service, because that is a very hard thing to do, is go out and risk your life," says high school student Kevin Marrow.

"I'm very proud of all the veterans.  I have a son that graduated from this school here, has over 20 years of military service.  All the veterans have done a beautiful, great job.  Thank God for them," says veteran Thomas Felts.

Today's presentation followed a breakfast for veterans and their families that was prepared by students.
