Missouri Governor Jay Nixon made a stop in the Four States on Tuesday.
The governor checked in with residents in Vernon County who signed up to take the Governors 100 Missouri Mile Challenge, an initiative to encourage Missourians to hike, cycle, and walk to get active.
The city of Nevada then launched the Health Nevada Project with the goal of 1,000 area residents taking the fitness challenge.
"This project is an outstanding example of an innovative partnership that's making a real difference by improving the health a quality of life in this part of our great state," says Governor Nixon.
Vernon County was recognized as having the most active members participating in the entire state of Missouri.
