Women's Basketball Earns Regional Win Over Minnesota-Duluth

The Pittsburg State women's basketball teamtraveled to Rolla, Mo. for a game against Central Region opponentMinnesota-Duluth from the Northern Sun Conference and will come back toPittsburg with a 82-75 win and an improved 3-2 record.

Pitt State had another good shooting game, finishing with a 52.5 percentshooting percentage for the game, including 42.9 percent from three-pointrange. The Gorillas also outrebounded the Bulldogs, 44-34. The team was able toovercome 22 turnovers and 22 points off those turnovers by UMD for the win.

Lizzy Jeronimus led the Gorillas with a double-double, 20 points and 10rebounds. She also had four assists. Alexa Bordewick added a season-high 18points. She was 3-of-6 from three point range. Brigit Hesser came off the benchto score 11 points. Hailey Roderique pulled down seven rebounds.

The game was back and forth in the early minutes, but a three by MorganWesthoff with 11:05 to go in the first half gave Pitt State the lead that theywould not surrender again. The Bulldogs tied the game at 25-25, but Pitt Statewent on a 6-0 run to go up 31-25 with 6:13 in the opening half. An AntqunitaReed layup just two minutes later gave the Gorillas their largest lead of thefirst half, 37-28. The Bulldogs would cut Pitt State's lead to two with 21second left, but Bordewick nailed a three in the last five second for a 44-39half time score.

Bordewick started the second half the same way she ended the first, with athree, and Y'Cedria Devers added a layup for the Gorillas first double digitlead of the game, 49-39. The Bulldogs whittled the lead down to two with 13:32left, but Pitt State answered with a 6-0 run to stretch the lead back to eight.From there UMD was not able to get closer than four and Bordewick free throwswith 13 second remaining sealed the 82-75 win.

Pitt State will travel to Liberty, Mo. on Tuesday, November 19 for adoubleheader with William Jewell. The women's game begins at 5:30 p.m., withthe men's following.

    The Crawford County Sheriff's Office says nearly 30 head of cattle have been stolen from an area farm. On September 22nd, 2018, authorities responded to the area of south 520th Ave (Country Club Rd) and 205th Street about the theft of cattle. The cattle, belonging to Wood Farms, are 600 to 650 lbs, all black in color with some having white faces except one all red steer.
