Santa Paws pictures at Meadowbrook Mall - December 2-3 in Pittsburg

SEK HUMANE SOCIETY ANNUAL SANTA PAWS PICTURES

Get your dog’s picture with Santa! On Monday, December 2nd and Tuesday, December 3rd Shields Photography will be set up at Meadowbrook Mall’s center court from 5-8pm to take your dog’s pictures with Santa. These two nights will be exclusively for dogs, no human pictures will be allowed. Pictures will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. All dogs must be on a leash. No cats please.

The session fee will be $15, plus $2 for each additional subject. The fee includes one 5x7 and 4 wallet pictures. The SEK Humane Society will receive a portion of the picture fee to support homeless animals at the shelter.

    The Fort Scott, Kansas Police Department says a series of events lead to a fish kill at Gunn Park/Fern Lake. Authorities say hot water temperatures, cloudy windless days, low water levels and an expanding green algae bloom that peaked and crashed were all factors. It created the "perfect storm" or aquatic conditions that depleted and decreased the oxygen level to a point where the aquatic system would not support life.

    After reviewing the Kansas Highway Patrol's investigation, the Cherokee County Kansas Attorney will not file charges against the driver of the van. On May 8th, 2018, two cyclists from Germany were riding on Highway 66 near mile marker 1.8 when they were hit by a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country van. The cyclists, 71-year-old Heinz Gerd Buchel and 74-year-old Harry Jung, died at the scene. The highway patrol report states that the van was traveling west in the right lane of K-66 wh...
