Men's basketball heads to Pittsburg for PSU Tournament

The MissouriSouthern Men's basketball team will head west to Pittsburg to compete in thePittsburg State Tournament this Friday and Saturday. The Lions will face offwith Avila on Friday evening and will take on Bethany on Saturday.

MIAA Team Ranks:TheLions rank second in the MIAA in both scoring defense (59.5) and steals pergame (8.0), while ranking third in offensive rebounds, fourth in field goaldefense and fifth in blocks.

Leggett & PlattAttendance:The Lions averaged 1,745 fans per game last seasonat the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. That number ranked 15th nationallyand is the third season in a row for Southern to rank in the top 20 nationallyas the Lions were ranked 17th a season ago, averaging 1,923 fans per game. TheLions were ranked 18th nationally two seasons ago, averaging 1,801 fans pergame. 

MIAA IndividualRanks: MarquisAddison ranks 15th in the MIAA in scoring, while CameronCornelius and JordanTalbert rank 24th. Talbert is second in rebounding, while leading theleague in offensive rebounds and ranking sixth in blocks and fifth in minutes. GregRenfroe ranks 12th in rebounding, while SlimMagee is fourth in blocks and Addison, Corneilus and MattEverson rank fourth in steals.   

Passing1,000:MarquisAddison became the newest member of the 1,000 point club at MSSU with 20 pointsagainst Central Missouri last season. He currently has 1,140 points, pushinghim ahead of both Edin Santiago and Carlos Escalera for 13th all-time in scoringat Southern. He is the fourth Lion in the past three seasons to pass 1,000,joining Jason Adams, Skyler Bowlin and Keane Thomann.  
 
Corn Moves Up WinsLadder: Coach Robert Corn won his 380th career gameagainst Central Bible and that moved him into fourth place on the MIAA careerwins list, passing Truman's Boyd King (46-71). He now has 390 wins and issecond among active coaches (Bob Chipman). 

Three PointStreak: The Lions failed to make a three-pointer atArkansas Tech. It was the first time in 403 games that Southern had failed tohit a three pointer, dating back to Jan. 20, 1999 against Missouri S&T. TheLions have had a three in 23-straight games since Arkansas Tech in2012-13.

They are followed by Southwest Baptist who won the MIAA post-season tournament in overtime over Central Oklahoma who is picked two points behind them in third place after receiving a single first place vote.More >>
