11 players named to MIAA Football Academic Honor Roll; Forchu named Scholar-Athlete

PRESS RELEASE MSSU: 

The MissouriSouthern Lions football team had 11 players named to the MIAAAcademic Honor Roll as announced by the league office today. In addition,sophomore running back GiresseForchu was named a MIAA Scholar-Athlete.

To beeligible for the honor roll, a student athlete must have a cumulatve gradepoint average of at least a 3.0 and have at least two terms of attendance atthe school. To be eligible for the MIAA Scholar Athlete Award, thosestudent-athletes must have a 3.50 grade point average, at least two terms ofattendance at the school and, if competing in a championship sport of the MIAA,earn All-MIAA honors.

The Lionsnamed to the honor roll include seniors WilliamFlores, DemondHorsley, PacoVarol, juniors BeauBounous, ChanceMayden, RyonPhillips and AustinWolfe, sophomores AnthonyThayer, JustinTomlinson, Forchu and redshirt freshman RickyNichols.  

Forchu earnedMIAA Scholar-Athlete Award after being named CoSIDA Academic All District onNov. 7. Carrying a perfect 4.0 GPA in biology, the Forney, Tex. native earnedAll-MIAA honorable mention after finishing the year with 526 rushing yards on114 carries and five touchdowns. Starting all 10 games at running back, Forchualso caught four passes for 123 yards and a touchdown.
