St. Peter's Outreach serves 300 free meals

St. Peter's Outreach in Joplin has been working hard feeding their neighbors over the years - and today they celebrated thanksgiving a few days early.

The church's hard work and donations from the community fed over 300 people hot thanksgiving meals. Volunteers cooked and served the meals to everyone - while local musicians provided entertainment. One of the biggest donations came from local catholic schools - which officials say, everyone working together made preparing the food much easier.

"One school brought all the stuffing and mashed potatoes, one school brought all the pie. Another school brought vegetables so it's just a collaborative effort of our whole little community here." says Terri Giarratono, Executive Director for St. Peter's Outreach.

"We thought what better way to show our faith and in our church and our faith in god and in the people that live right around here is to feed them. In lieu of giving out a basket this year, we we decided to cook a hot meal." Giarratono says.

So far St. Peter's has fed 7 ,033 people total this year.
