"Caring Hearts, Healing Hands" mural unveiled at Freeman Health System

Freeman Health System unveiled their "Caring Hearts, Healing Hands" mural on Monday.

It's an eight feet by 20 feet mural constructed by Joplin artist, A.J. Wood and his son, Jordan.

It portrays Freeman's commitment to healthcare and the communities it serves.  Moments within the mural show the passage of life from birth to death.  A portion is also dedicated to the 161-souls lost during the May 2011 tornado.

"We wanted to incorporate as much as we could from the community that Freeman serves and the landmarks that we included are ones that are important to us," says A.J. Wood.  "They're places we like to go, things that we always wanted to paint or draw. And so, we ran those by the committee and they said 'yes, let's get those in there.'"

The mural required 1,200 hours of production.
