Baxter Springs fatal accident


A two vehicle crash leaves one man dead.  It happened Friday in Baxter Springs, KS.  The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office says the crash was near Southeast 20th and US Highway 166, just west of Baxter Springs.

A Nissan truck, driven by 61-year-old Debra Goodhue of Chetopa, KS crossed the center line, colliding with a Ford Explorer, driven by 48-year-old James McDermott the third of Baxter Springs.

McDermott died on the way to the hospital.  His wife, Janice, and 10-year-old Jean McDermott are hospitalized for injuries sustained when the Explorer rolled several times.
