Holiday parades soon begin across the Four States

Updated:

Santa will be making his way through multiple towns this week, as holiday parades get underway.  Marching bands, floats and plenty more will be filling the streets of towns.  While they are fun for the whole family, officials want parents to be aware of some safety tips for young children.

"Everyone likes to have a great time at parades, and that's what they are there for, for fellowship, for entertainment, and the community coming together.  But it's important to be safe and just keep an eye on your children.  Make sure they don't go out into the street.  Parades can be dangerous with all the animals and vehicles and things like that.  So it's important to keep an extra eye on them.  Make sure they stay safe," says Sergeant Ryan West with the Joplin Police Department.

Pittsburg and Carthage will be hosting their parades Monday.
