NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE QUAPAW TRIBE OF OKLAHOMA

Quapaw Tribe to Open Wellness Center in Quapaw

The Quapaw Tribe is excited to announce the opening of their Wellness Center. Funded by an Indian Community Development Block Grant, the center is a state of the art work out facility that will meet the needs of all workout levels. The facility has the latest equipment from treadmills and elliptical machines to leg presses, biceps and curls. Each machine has a range of weight difficulties for a light or strenuous workout. Televisions are available for those who need to break up the monotony of their workout. There is also a floor exercise room where Zumba, Yoga, and other floor exercises will be offered.

Quapaw Tribal members Sherrie Nida, Director, and Robert Whitebird, III, Fitness Coordinator, are there to assist with every phase from beginners to advanced exercisers. They are excited to be open and are more than helpful to patrons and can explain equipment and develop workout routines to fit everyone's needs.

"It's an amazing day for the Quapaw people, and I'm so proud that we can provide a quality place to serve as a community gathering place focused on wellness and healthy living," stated Chairman John Berrey.

Open to everyone ages 12 and above, the Wellness Center is located at 907 Whitebird Street in Quapaw north of (behind) the O-Gah-Pah Learning Center. For more information about membership fees and what is offered, call the Wellness Center at (918) 674-2334.
