Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Raises Money for American Cancer Society

Sheriff's Office Raises Money for American Cancer Society

Over the past month, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has participated in “No Shave November,” which is a month long event, where men grow their beards or mustaches as a way to raise awareness for health issues facing men, with particular focus on prostate cancer.

According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, with 1 in 6 being diagnosed in their lifetime.

This year alone, there is an estimated 238,590 new cases diagnosed, leading to the deaths of 29,750 patients.

Preventative screenings, even if no symptoms are displayed, can help lead to early detection of this disease.

In addition to raising awareness, each Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office member who participated in No Shave November, made a financial contribution.

It total, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office members donated $250.00, which has been sent to the American Cancer Society.
