Snow day works in favor for shoppers

Updated:

With just 19 days left until Christmas Day the snow worked in favor for some late shoppers at Northpark Mall.

"Yes! I took the day off and we're just having a good time," said shopper Robyn Kaempfe.

The shopping environment for retailers looked different after one of the biggest shopping weekends. Retailers say the traffic inside the mall was steady throughout the day but not the busiest for a Friday

According to ShopperTrak, sales for Black Friday weekend estimated $22.2 billion compared to last year's $22 billion.

A different look from the National Retail Federation numbers say, it's believed that Americans spent 2.9% less over the Black Friday weekend. Some reports say it's due to retailers rolling out holiday promotions early.

"Its quiet, it's not as busy, it's not as crowed so you get to walk around here and shop," said shopper Keegan Hartman.

Many of the shoppers we spoke with say, it's not uncommon for them to wait until the last minute to find that special gift.
