Funeral arrangements announced for Joplin man who died in crash

Updated December 12, 2013:  Funeral arrangements have been announced for a Joplin man who died in a crash on December 7.

The wake for Rance Mata will be held Friday at 6 p.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin.  The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church at 1730 Byers Avenue.

Mata did not have insurance to pay for the f uneral and leaves behind a son, who turns three on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the "Bubby Account" at any area Joplin Metro Credit Union.

 

Posted December 8, 2013:  Joplin police investigate a deadly crash at one of the city's busiest intersections.  The crash happened at the intersection of 20th and Rangeline last night at around 9:15 PM.

Witnesses told police the driver, 37-year-old Rance Mata, was going the wrong way, north in the southbound lanes, when his SUV hit a traffic light support post.

Fire crews had to extricate the victim, who was later pronounced dead ay Freeman Hospital.
