Parade Winners Announced

The Parsons Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the annual Christmas Parade. Award winners were chosen from over 85 entries that participated in Thursday's parade.

Sophia Zetmeir, owner of Grandview Products, was named this year's Parade Grand Marshal and led the way for the rest of the entrants. Entries included professional floats, trucks, emergency vehicles, motorcycles, bands, homemade floats, tractors and Mr. and Mrs. Claus. The floats were judged by representatives of USD 503, Power Flame and Goldsmith & Morrison. "It takes months of planning to coordinate a parade of this size and the weather always plays a big part in having a successful event, the extreme cold did keep some spectators away and several people called ahead of time to cancel their entries in the parade," said Jonna Fearmonti-Gabbert, Parsons Chamber Director of PR, Marketing & Events.

The Parsons Chamber of Commerce wish to say thanks to the many that made this event possible. The Lions Club of Parsons for their assistance in helping to line the parade entries in the proper location, Matt Hoisington and the Parsons High School video production crew for spending hours in the cold today laying cable to televise the event, the City of Parsons Police, Fire and Streets department for helping to make the parade safe and fun for all those attending and to those walking or riding in the Parade. "We were glad the snow held out until after the parade was over and quite a few people still came out and endured the cold to watch the annual Chamber Christmas Parade," said Gabbert.
