Pitt State Basketball to Host Ugly Christmas Sweater Game

Remember that Christmas sweater hanging in the back of your closet that your great aunt gave you? The one you just knew you would never wear. Well, now is your chance to wear it, and to possibly win a prize for it, as the Pittsburg State men's and women's basketball teams host their first Ugly Christmas Sweater Game againt Southwest Baptist on Saturday, December 21. The women's game begins at 1:30 p.m. with the men's game following.

All fans are encouraged to wear their festive best. Mystery judges will pick the best ugly Christmas wear and the winner will get a $40 gift certificate to the PSU Bookstore. 

Santa Gus will also be at the game for special Christmas pictures with his biggest fans. Those pictures will be on sale later on the Pitt State Athletics Photo Store

The Pitt State women are 6-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play. They will host Truman in a non-conference game on Wednesday before Saturday's game. The Pitt State men are 3-4 overall and 0-1 in MIAA play. They play West Texas A&M at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday prior to Saturday's meeting with SBU. The Southwest Baptist women are 5-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play, whiel the Bearcat men are 8-3 overall and 1-1 in the MIAA.

    The Crawford County Convention & Visitors Bureau needs volunteers for the NAIA Indoor National Track & Field Championships.  Officials expect more than 1,200 student-athletes from across the nation to fill the Robert W.     Google Earth Co-Founder and Kansas Secretary of State candidate Brian McClendon plans a visit to southeast Kansas. McClendon is currently a University of Kansas Research professor.     Galena Fire Chief Bill Hall says another fire was apparently set last night (Feb 19).  He says it was in an open field and there were no structures involved. Authorities say last night's fire was put out one hour after crews arrived. The fire Marshal is investigating.  Hall says the city does have a few leads, however, at this point they don't know if the fires from last week are connected to last night's fire.
