Updated:

Empire Electric is reporting multiple outages across Jasper and Newton counties due to the winter weather.

An Empire official we spoke with over the phone says the outages are mostly ice related outages - such as weight from ice casuing line breaks.

The outages have been popping up in small areas, and officials are working efficiently to reach all affected customers.

Earlier in the day Neosho, MO had several trees down across roadways, included W. Coler street.

So far at 3 P.M  2521 customers are affected.

Major areas hit include:

Duenweg/Carthage/Jasper area is reporting 1263 power outages.
