Pittsburg House Fire Challenge for Crews - KOAM TV 7

Pittsburg House Fire Challenge for Crews

Updated:

A fire destroys a Pittsburg home while freighters were forced to  maneuver around storm debris on streets.

Crews with the Pittsburg fire department rush to a home on the six hundred block of Oakview around  six am Sunday morning.
But the call came too late.
The  home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

Knowing they couldn't save the home, they immediately set up a defensive attack to prevent the fire from spreading to other homes nearby.

More than 10 firefights were on scene.

Fire chief Mike Simons says it was a challenge just getting there .
"Weather plays a part in all this -it also even just our response is difficult because of the low hanging icy limbs makes passing and limbs on the road makes getting to these locations a little more difficult.  In fact, we encountered several blockages on  streets in the process."

The home is a total loss and the owner was out of town.
