Search for New Tenant begins for East Middle school Warehouse Building

Back to business could take a few months for the soon to be vacant building that now holds East Middle school in Joplin.

Chamber of Commerce President Rob O'Brian recently  helped box books as the school prepares for a big move  over the holidays. East used a chamber speck building in the industrial park for two and half years after the tornado. The freedom of feather wall will be removed to go to the new school,  but demolition to take the building  back to the original shell may not be necessary.  O'Brian says wether or not walls will come down depends on the next tenant and that's yet to be determined.

O'Brian says, "There's more  infrastructure and investment here in the restrooms, the offices, all of those things  that really have value to someone else. we're going to  find in between ground with the  school district that opens the building some but still allows a lot of the investment made by schools and by FEMA to be utilized TO  bring jobs to the community."

O'Brian says the finished building could be suitable for offices,  a call center or shared services facility.
The district extended its lease of the industrial park space through January but the schools is moving into its newly constructed site on 20th and Duquesne by January 6th.
