Bright Futures USA welcomes Oswego, Kan. as 19th affiliate community

Joplin, Mo. – Bright Futures USA is excited to welcome Oswego, Kan. as the 19th Bright Futures affiliate community.

The Bright Futures initiative began in Joplin in 2010 and expanded throughout the region as a means of helping schools and communities connect to meet student needs.

Oswego is the second Bright Futures affiliate in Kansas. Liberal, Kan. was the first. Bright Futures is also present in fifteen communities in Missouri, one community in Virginia, and one community in Arkansas. The program currently serves over 90,000 students in Bright Futures affiliate communities.

“We are excited to welcome Oswego to the Bright Futures family and we can’t wait to see the exciting and innovative ways they will implement Bright Futures in the Oswego area,” said Bryan Vowels, chairman of the Bright Futures USA Board of Directors.

The Board of Education for Unified School District 504 officially approved Bright Futures affiliation during their regularly scheduled Dec. 9 meeting upon the recommendation of Superintendent Mark LaTurner.

Bright Futures USA is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to bringing communities together to focus on the success of children. This grassroots movement uses the Bright Futures framework to engage businesses, human service agencies, faith-based organizations, and parent groups within communities to meet the needs of children so every child can be successful, now and in the future.
