Missouri Southern football ranks near the top in many Division II statistical categories

The NCAAreleased its final Division II statistics today and the Missouri Southernfootball team led the country in time of possession this season, while rankingsecond in rushing yardage. 

The Lionsheld the ball for an average of 35:14 in each game this season and that rankedtops in all of Division II. Southern rushed the ball for an average of 368.4yards per game, just two yards per game behind national leader and nationalrunner-up Lenoir-Rhyne. 

The Lions hadjust three passes intercepted all season long and that ranked second, onebehind national leader Carson Newman. Southern also ranked fifth nationally inboth tackles for a loss allowed and passing yards per completion. 

The Lions rankedsixth in third down completion percentage, eighth in sacks allowed and ninth infourth down conversion percentage. They also ranked tenth in first downdefense.

In all, theLions ranked in the top ten nationally in nine different categories, while ranking14th in turnovers lost.
