Deputy involved in crash near Erie, Kansas

Updated December 27 at 10:00 AM:  Two people were flown to a Joplin hospital after their vehicle was struck in the side by a Neosho County deputy's car in a crash just north of Erie.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash report, a vehicle driven by Brandon Lee Douglas Mistler, 17 of Wichita, was westbound on Kansas 146 when it crossed U.S. 59 in front of a vehicle driven by Deputy Tracy Henderson of Erie.

Mistler and a passenger, Lloyd Haze, 56 of Erie, were both flown to a Joplin hospital.  Their condition has not been released at this time.

Henderson was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

 

Posted December 26, 2013 at 2:43 PM:  Two people have been flown to a Joplin hospital after a crash occurred early this afternoon at the 59 and 146 junction just north of Erie, Kansas.

Neosho County Sheriff Jim Keath confirmed two vehicles were involved, including an on duty deputy.

Sheriff Keath says they are still on the scene working the accident but traffic is open at this time.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
