Emergency officials ready to help homeless from cold

As the temperatures continue to drop, the need for protecting those who are outside the most increases.

In Joplin, homeless shelters across town are accepting the homeless, to keep them out of  the frigid temperatures. Both Watered Gardens Gospel Rescue and Souls Harbor will be assisting in housing the homeless..
Emergency officials have spoken with many homeless people warning them of the dangerous temperatures

Jasper County Emergency Manager, Keith Stammer says "One of the things we look at are the people who are outside anyway. Then the next thing is people that because of the weather may lose their heating, which could in fact become a disaster situation for them, which in that case we will work with them on a case by case basis".

Stammer says if you believe someone may need assistance, you can call the Joplin police department to provide safety to those in need.
