PSU names new Director of Alumni and Constituent Relations

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY PITTSBURG STATE UNIVERSITY

Bartlow named director of alumni and constituent relations

For nearly seven years in the Office of Admission, Jon Bartlow worked with Pittsburg State University students as they were beginning their educational journey.

Soon, his focus will turn to those who have completed the quest.

Bartlow has been named director of Pittsburg State’s Office of Alumni and Constitution Relations. He succeeds Johnna Norton, who held the position for seven years before accepting a new position as director of the Mt. Carmel Foundation.

In his new role, Bartlow will serve as a senior member of the University Advancement team and is responsible for the organization, management, and implementation of the university's comprehensive alumni and constituent relations program. He will also serve as the executive director of the Pittsburg State University Alumni Association.

Bartlow served as associate director of alumni and constituent relations from December 2005 to April 2007 before becoming associate director of admission and coordinator of freshmen orientation.

“I sincerely believe that the positions I have held, both professionally and voluntarily over the past 10 years, have prepared me to successfully lead the Office of Alumni and Constituent Relations,” Bartlow said. “I’m very excited to return to the alumni office and build upon the many great things that are taking place there.”

Brad Hodson, vice president of advancement, said Bartlow’s experience at and devotion to Pittsburg State made him an outstanding candidate for the director position.

“I’m confident that Jon will do remarkable things in the alumni and constituent relations office,” Hodson said. “He has a contagious energy about him, and he cares very deeply about the university.”

Ray Jacquinot, president of the Pittsburg State University Alumni Association, said he's looking forward to working with Bartlow in the coming years.

"I am very impressed by Jon and his knowledge of Pittsburg State," Jacquinot said. "He brings a lot of energy and versatility to the position, and I'm excited for the opportunity to work with him."

Since joining the staff at Pittsburg State, Bartlow has been active both on campus and in the community.

He is co-chair of the University Sustainability Committee and a member of the Unclassified Staff Senate. He is a past president of the Little Balkans Days Festival Association, a member of the Southeast Kansas Symphony Board and a founding member of the local Big Bang Rockfest fundraiser event.

Bartlow earned bachelor’s (1999) and master’s (2003) degrees in communication from Pittsburg State. He is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in higher education administration from Saint Louis University.

“As a proud alumnus of Pittsburg State University and someone who has dedicated most of his professional career to this institution,” he said, “it’s an honor to serve in this new capacity and have an opportunity to build on the successes of the past several years.”

Bartlow is married to Amy Bartlow, who teaches third grade at George Nettels Elementary School. The couple has a 1-year-old son, Cole.
