MIZZOU’S BRITT AND GAINES INVITED TO EAST-WEST SHRINE GAME

MizzouFootball's Justin Britt and E.J. Gaines have accepted invitations to play inthe 89th East-West Shrine Game, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 18, at TropicanaField in St. Petersburg, Fla. The game that annually features some of collegefootball's best players will kick off at 4 p.m. EST and be televised live onNFL Network.

 

Theevent benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children, an international pediatricspecialty health care system.

 

Brittfinished his final Tiger campaign in top form on Mizzou's offensive line,holding down the left tackle position for all 14 games of the team's CottonBowl Classic championship-winning season. A native of Lebanon, Mo., Britt andhis offensive line counterparts helped the 2013 Mizzou offense set a programrecord with 3,330 rushing yards.

 

Gaineswas a vital part of Mizzou's defensive secondary, finishing the season as theTigers' interceptions leader with five pickoffs returned for a total of 17yards. The Independence, Mo., native finished third on the team with 75 tackles(4.0 TFL) while missing 2.5 games due to injury in the middle of Mizzou's 2013campaign.

 

Brittand Gaines are the 39th and 40th Tigers to head to the East-West Shrine Game,and the eighth and ninth to do so during head coach Gary Pinkel's tenure inColumbia.

 

Alumsof the East-East Shrine Game have gone on to success at the next level, with 62participants earning enshrinement in the NFL Hall of Fame. Currently, 52players on active NFL rosters played in the game.

 

Ticketsfor the East-West Shrine Game are on sale through www.ticketmaster.com.  Fans canalso purchase tickets for the game at www.shrinegame.com.All game tickets are $15 general admission tickets (price does not includeservice fees).
