SCENE SETTER
No. 22 Oklahoma and Texas are both 1-1 in the Big 12 Conference as the two teams meet Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. Central at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.  The game will be televised on the Longhorn Network, which is available on COX Cable (ch. 274) or AT&T U-Verse (ch. 609/1609) and via webcast for customers of those providers online or through the Longhorn Network mobile app.

Why the early start? Nearly 6,000 Central Texas elementary school students are expected to attent for the third annual 40 Acres Field Trip.

Oklahoma ranks 17th nationally in field goal percentage and 18th in scoring offense while Texas ranks third in the NCAA in field goal percentage defense and eighth in scoring defense.

Oklahoma, the preseason Big 12 favorite, opened Big 12 play with a victory on the road for the first time since the 2008-09 season, beating Texas Tech 68-38 in Lubbock on Jan. 2, but fell in its second overtime contest of the season, 82-75, to then-No. 14 Iowa State in Norman on Jan. 5.

Texas lost to Oklahoma State 67-61 at Stillwater to open Big 12 play, but rebounded at home with a 67-53 win against Kansas State.

Oklahoma senior guard Aaryn Ellenberg is six points shy of becoming the sixth Sooner to reach 2,000 career points scored.
