KANSAS VS. RANKED FOES UNDER BILL SELF
No. 25 Kansas State will be the fourth ranked team Kansas will have faced in 2013-14. The Jayhawks are 1-2 against ranked foes this season having defeated then-No. 4 Duke, 94-83, in the State Farm Champions Classic on Nov. 12 at the United Center in Chicago, lost at then-No. 19 Florida, 67-61 on Dec. 10 and lost to No. 21 San Diego State, 61-57 on Jan. 5. Kansas has played 77 games against Associated Press-ranked opponents in the 10-plus seasons under head coach Bill Self. Last year, Kansas went 5-2 against ranked foes. Under Self, KU is 49-28 (63.6 percent) against ranked competition. That percentage has an upward trend since the 2007-08 season as the Jayhawks are 39-18 (68.4 percent) versus ranked foes.

IN THE POLLS
Kansas is ranked No. 18 by the Associated Press and No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches' poll released Jan. 6. In the Bill Self era, this is the 160th week Kansas has been ranked in the AP top 25, which includes 112 times in the top 10. KU has been ranked in each of the last 94 polls dating back to the 2008-09 season. In the coaches' poll, Kansas has been ranked 187 times, including 137 in the top 10 in the Self era. KU has been listed in each of the last 98 coaches' polls.

THE SCHEDULE
The Big 12 ended non-conference play with the highest winning percentage of any other league at 79.7 percent (102-26). The combined record of Kansas' next five opponents is 51-7 (87.9 percent): vs. Kansas State (12-3), at Iowa State (14-0), vs. Oklahoma State (13-2) and vs. Baylor (12-2).

Many experts have said Kansas has the toughest schedule in college basketball. KU's 2013-14 men's basketball schedule includes 13 opponents which advanced to the 2013 postseason (12 NCAA, one NIT), including six foes that either won their regular-season or conference tournament titles last year. The 12 NCAA participants on the KU schedule for 2013-14 include: Colorado (L, 72-75), Duke (W, 94-83), Georgetown (W, 86-64), Florida (L, 61-67), Iona (W, 86-66), Iowa State, Kansas State, New Mexico (W, 80-63), Oklahoma (W, 90-83), Oklahoma State, San Diego State (L, 57-61) and Villanova (L, 59-63). Baylor won the 2013 NIT.

CONFERENCE SUCCESS
Kansas has won 13 of the 17 Big 12 regular-season titles (includes ties), including the last nine, which ranks tied for fifth on the NCAA all-time consecutive list. Kansas' 56 conference titles are the most in NCAA Division I. Kentucky is second with 51 and Penn third at 37. Kansas' nine-straight league titles is the longest active streak in NCAA Division I and the longest streak in school history. Including 2013, Belmont (Atlantic Sun/Ohio Valley East) and Murray State (Ohio Valley West) are next at four on the active league title list.

UP NEXT
Kansas will have a short turnaround after the K-State contest as it will play its first of four ESPN Big Monday games at No. 9/7 Iowa State on Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. Kansas and No. 11/12 Oklahoma State were co-preseason Big 12 favorites and the Cowboys will come to Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 3 p.m. on CBS. Two days later, Kansas will host No. 7/9 Baylor on ESPN Big Monday, Jan. 20, at 8 p.m. in Allen Fieldhouse.
