Track and Field opens up indoor season with MSSU Invitational

The MissouriSouthern men's and women's track and field teams will open up their respectiveindoor seasons tomorrow when the Lions play host to the MSSU Invitational heldinside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. 

Events kickoff at 2:30 pm on friday with the men's long jump and weight throw. Runningevents start at 5 pm with the prelims of the 60m dash. Saturday's events beginat 10:30 am with the men's shot put, as well as the women's triple jum and polevault. Running events begin at 3 pm with the finals of the 60m hurdles. 

Both themen's and women's teams were picked to finish third in the preseason MIAAIndoor Track and Field Coaches Poll. The Southern men return four All-MIAAperformers from last season in JeffFraley (60m and 200m), ClarkTanksley (high jump), DarionBoure (triple jump) and JayceThomas (heptathlon). Fraley was the champion in the 200m and will lookto defend his title this season. Southern had six All-Region performers andqualified six athletes for the indoor national championships, with all but tworeturning to this year's squad. 

On thewomen's side, the Lions finished second last year in the indoor MIAA meet.Southern returns three individual champions and the bulk of the distance medlaychampionship team including BrittaniReagan in the long jump, MelanieBower in the pole vault and KylieCornman in the shot put. Cornman went on to earn All-American honorsin the shot put. The Lions return All-Americans from the outdoor seasonincluding WhitneyHardy in the high jump, Reagan in both the long and triple jumpand KayleeMorgan in the long jump.

    Authorities search for a vehicle involved in a high-speed chase through Lamar, Missouri. It happened on November 12th, 2018, around 7:40 a.m. The deputy first saw the vehicle near O Highway and 160 west of Lamar. The deputy then saw the vehicle travel east on 160 until it reached the substation by Barton County Electric where it then turned and went back west on 160 highway.
