Entry deadline approaching for Show Me the Ozarks/Wildcat Glades Photo contest

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY WILDCAT GLADES CONSERVATION & AUDUBON CENTER

Show Me the Ozarks Magazine, in conjunction with Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center, is accepting entries for the 4th annual nature photography contest.

The winning photo will be featured on the cover of the March edition of Show Me the Ozarks magazine, and the winning photographer will have an installation of their work shown at the Audubon Center during the months of April and May. All entries will also have one of their photos shown in the March magazine.

A new category for kids 15 and under has been opened this year.

Entry fee is $25 per photo and the deadline is February 4th. Entries should be sent to Show Me the Ozarks Magazine, PO Box 3325, Joplin, MO 64803. All proceeds benefit the Audubon Center and its programs.

Photo subject suggestions include nature, wildlife, or people enjoying our region’s natural resources. Photos must have been taken within our region within two years prior to February 4, 2014.

Registration is required for all programs at the Audubon Center. Space is limited and fills up quickly. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

    The state of Kansas now has a Republican nominee for Governor. What has been a roller coaster primary between Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer and Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Colyer announced today he is conceding defeat and is endorsing Kobach. Kobach will face the Democratic nominee Laura Kelly.  Governor Colyer was elevated from his position after former Kansas Governor Sam Brownback took an ambassador's position.

    A Springfield man was indicted by a federal grand jury today (Aug 14, 2018) for making a bomb threat at a Veterans Affairs Clinic. 48-year-old Richard Leslie Turner III allegedly threatened to blow up the Community Based Outpatient Clinic located at 600 N. Main Street in Mount Vernon, Missouri.
