Golden Key Awards Presented at Annual Carthage Chamber of Commerce Banquet

Updated:

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED JANUARY 20, 2014 BY CARTHAGE R-9 SCHOOLS

Golden Key Awards Presented at Annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet

The Chamber of Commerce presented four outstanding Carthage R-9 School District certified staff members with Golden Key Awards at their annual banquet last Friday evening, January 17. This year’s winners in the four categories were:

Early Childhood - Grade 3 Jenny Starchman, Second Grade, Steadley Elementary School

Grades 4-6 Braden McBride, Counselor, Mark Twain Elementary School

Grades 7-8 Kayla Sloan, Math, Junior High

Grades 9-12 Katie Crigger, Vocal Music, High School

The purpose of the Golden Key Awards program is to recognize excellence in the teaching profession and to inform the public of the exceptional quality of instruction in the Carthage community. Students, parents, school staff and community members are encouraged to submit written nominations for the Golden Key Awards stating how the candidate has motivated their students, influenced a particular student or situation, or describing professionalism or activities beyond the classroom setting. A committee, appointed by the Chamber of Commerce Business Education Committee, reviews all applications and makes the final selection. The most important criterion used in selecting award recipients is the ability of the teacher or administrator to inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to reach their full potential through the educational process.

Since 1993, over 100 Carthage educators have been recognized as Golden Key Award winners. We appreciate the dedication of all of our staff members, and the extraordinary skills and educational services they provide for the students of the Carthage R-9 School District.
