The 22ndranked Missouri Southern men's basketball team will head north on Wednesday foran important matchup with Northwest Missouri State that will determinefirst-place in the MIAA. Tip off from Bearcat Arena in Maryville is slated for7:30 pm.

TheSeries: Northwestleads the overall series 26-18, but Southern has won six of the last eightgames. Missouri Southern is 13-7 at home against Northwest Missouri, whilethe Lions are 5-15 in Maryville. Northwest has won all four of the neutral sitegames.While many of the games have been close, Northwest's biggest victorymargin was 27 points, in the 2006 MIAA Tournament. Southern'smost-lopsided win was a 93-67 decision on January 29, 2000.

MIAATeam Ranks: TheLions lead the MIAA in scoring margin, scoring defense, field goal defense,blocks, and offensive rebound percentage. Southern is second in turnover margin,steals and field goal percentage, while ranking third in rebounding, reboundingmargin, assists and offensive rebounds, while ranking fourth in defensiverebounds, scoring offense and free-throw shooting and fifth in reboundingdefense.

MIAAIndividual Ranks: MarquisAddison ranks 11th in the MIAA in scoring, while CameronCornelius ranks 27th. Addison ranks fourth in free-throw shooting andseventh in steals, while SlimMagee leads the MIAA in field goal percentage, while ranking fourth inblocks and 12th in rebounding. JordanTalbert ranks third in blocks and fifth in rebounding, while LaneBarlow ranks eighth in assists and 12th in assist to turnover ratio. RandyClark ranks eighth in assist to turnover ratio.    

NationalRanks: TheLions, as a team, rank eighth nationally in scoring margin and 12th in blocksper game. The Lions rank 16th in total blocks, while ranking 20th in both fieldgoal defense and win-loss percentage. They rank 22nd in free-throws made and24th in field goal percentage, while ranking 35th in scoring offense, 36th inasssists and 37th in free-throws attempted. Southern also ranks 48th in bothfree-throw percentage and scoring defense. 

TheLions are perfect when: Missouri Southern is perfect this season when theLions have scored 90+ points (6-0), allowed 69 points or less (7-0), out shootopponents (12-0), make more three's (3-0), have more assists (11-0), get morebench points (7-0), and when the game is decided by 20 or more points (7-0).But would you believe the Lions are also perfect when the following happen:play on the road (7-0), have more turnovers (6-0), attempt (4-0) and make (7-0)fewer free throws, and have fewer steals (3-0) than their opponents.  

Passing1,000: MarquisAddison became the newest member of the 1,000 point club at MSSU with 20 pointsagainst Central Missouri last season. He currently has 1,360 points, moving infront of Russell Bland for 10th place all-time in scoring at Southern. He needs20 points to pass Terry Shumphert for 9th all-time and is the fourth Lion inthe past three seasons to pass 1,000, joining Jason Adams, Skyler Bowlin andKeane Thomann.        
Corn Wins No. 400: CoachRobert Corn won his 400th career game on Jan. 15, 2014 in a 70-50 win at homeover Lindenwood He now has 401 wins and is second among active coaches (BobChipman). 

Three PointStreak: The Lions failed to make a three-pointer atArkansas Tech in their match-up in 2012-13. It was the first time in 403 gamesthat Southern had failed to hit a three pointer, dating back to Jan. 20, 1999against Missouri S&T. The Lions have had a three in 76-straight games sinceArkansas Tech in 2012-13. 

Points a Plenty: Withthe 101 points scored against Ottawa, it is the first time in the program'shistory the Lions have scored at least 100 points or more in three-straightgames. The Lions have scored 100 or more in 65 games in the program's history,including six times in the 85-86 season. 

Leggett & PlattAttendance: The Lions averaged 1,745 fans per game lastseason at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. That number ranked 15thnationally and is the third season in a row for Southern to rank in the top 20nationally as the Lions were ranked 17th a season ago, averaging 1,923 fans pergame. The Lions were ranked 18th nationally two seasons ago, averaging 1,801fans per game. 

He's on FireAustinWright was perfect from the field against Washburn going 8-8. He was7-7 from long-range, tying the school record for three-point percentage, buthis seven made shots is the most-ever in a perfect performance.
