WWII Veteran Visits Afton, OK Students

Updated:

A local World War II Veteran met with Northeast Oklahoma students on Tuesday to speak about his experience fighting overseas.

Paul Andert served in the U.S. Army as part of General Patton's famed 41st armored infantry.

He spoke to students at Afton High School about war and the tough decisions he made while in battle.

He said General Patton made him tough.

"He use to upset us quite a bit in the things he said but he said it to make us mad and make us tough fighters," said Andert.

On most days you can find Modot emergency response operator Roy Cota on the highways surrounding Joplin, clearing accidents and assisting motorists and local first responders. But that job would be impossible without assistance from the Transportation Management Center of the Ozarks, commonly referred to as the "TMC."
