Theatre NEO students excel at the Institute of Outdoor Drama professional auditions

Miami, Okla. – Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 – Four theatre students from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) were hand selected to participate in the Institute of Outdoor Drama professional auditions in Greenville, N.C. on Jan. 18th. All four of the NEO representatives received multiple call-backs, a sort of finals round for auditions and interviews, which is an incredible achievement, a testament to the amount of preparation and talent they brought to the auditions.

Students who participated were Britany Geidl from Anderson, Mo., Tyler Graham from Miami, Chris Keithley from Fairland, and Alex Warstler from Riverton, Kan. More than 300 actors from across the country attended the auditions hoping to secure work with a professional theatre during the summer.

Each student who auditioned had 60 seconds to audition for acting only, or 90 seconds to audition for acting and singing. Only seven companies were in attendance this year, far less from the usual number of 15-20. This made the competition particularly competitive.

Sponsor Barbara George, director of theatre, said she fully expects all four students to be offered jobs for the summer.

“I was able to watch the auditions, and even though our students were younger than most of the other students who auditioned, there were none more prepared or more talented for that matter,” George said.
