Master Gardeners featured on ‘Newsmakers’

Joplin, MO (SNS) – It may be the middle of winter, but an upcoming “Newsmakers” program takes a look ahead to the planting and growing season, with an interview featuring Master Gardeners.

The interview provides information about training opportunities for persons interested in becoming qualified as a Master Gardener. It also shares information about how the gardeners contribute their time and talents back to the community. Guests include Janet LaFon, Master Gardener coordinator with University Extension, and two Master Gardeners, Debbie Fedie and Eric Osen.

The program can be seen at the following times on KGCS-TV:

Sunday, Jan. 27 – 6 p.m.

Monday, Jan. 28 – 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 29 – 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 30 – 5:30 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 31 – 5:30 p.m.

It will also air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, on KOAM-TV.

KGCS programming may be seen over the air on digital channel 22, as well as regional cable television systems such as Cable One, Mediacom and Suddenlink. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.

    11 people, including five children escaped from an overnight house fire in Joplin.  The two-story fire on the corner of South 19th and Seargent erupted into flames around three o’clock this morning.  A total of four trucks worked to put out the flames, but nearly two hours later those flames were still burning strong.  Six adults and five children were in the home and escaped uninjured.  One of the family members says they had three space heaters running and ...More >>
