The Alliance of Southwest Missouri Hosts Marijuana Forum

Updated:

The cold did not stop some from traveling far today, specifically Anthony Moore, who journeyed to Joplin from Kansas City.

"I came out here just to kind of see the other side of the pendulum and just to see the other points and prospects there are out there."

Moore was one of many who attended the alliance of Southwest Missouri's marijuana forum.

Held at Missouri Southern, alliance officials say the purpose of the event is to spread awareness about one hot topic: marijuana.

"We just want to get the facts out there so the public can form their own opinion," said Chelsey Hall of the Alliance of Southwest Missouri.

The evening began with expert panelists discussing the effects of marijuana. After, published author and anti-drug advocate Dr. Kevin Sabet spoke on various myths surrounding marijuana. The floor was then open to questions from the audience.

According to alliance members, speakers and attendees, there were many important issues to talk about.

"Just a knowledge of marijuana about the true facts of marijuana about the dangers," said Robin Standridge. "Just to understand that there's a lot of misinformation out there."

"For every person out there who abuses this, there someone out there who uses it to better themselves and who could use it who isn't able to because of the laws set in place to live a better more fulfilled life," said Moore.
