Winds Whip Brush Fires, Extend House Fire to Neighbors

Updated:

Wind advisories had been issued  for parts of the region. With gusts from twenty to thirty miles an hour, brush fires spread quickly Sunday evening in Redings Mill and in Carl Junction. Both communities fire departments were kept busy Sunday evening to put out brush fires and protect structures.

Wind contributed to the spread of damaging flames to homes in Webb City earlier in the weekend.
A once two story house is now just rubble and ashes in the 800 block of Broadway in Webb City.   The fire began just after midnight Saturday. With brisk winds, the flames quickly traveled next door. The two neighboring homes were heavily damaged by the heat and water.  Neighbors living around the area told KOAM the fire was like nothing they've ever seen before.
They were temporarily evacuated due to the high winds spreading the fire.  No official cause has been determined. Fire risk is high during  wind advisories.
