Plumbing Contractor found guilty of Practicing without License

PARSONS, KS --- The City of Parsons is warning residents to check references when choosing a contractor to perform home repairs to meet the City Code/Building Inspection requirements. In September 2013, Daniel Oakley, Action Plumbing & Drains of Altamont was convicted in Parsons Municipal Court on four counts of plumbing without a license. That is a violation of Ordinance No. 5902. His conviction led to a fine of $400 plus court costs and was given a 30 day underlying jail sentence.

“Unfortunately, we have received several complaints regarding Action Plumbing allegedly once again performing work in the city without a license,” said Rick Hizey, City of Parsons Codes Enforcement Officer. “With no license, that contractor cannot work within the city limits of Parsons.”

City Attorney Ross Albertini added, “All work done, if it does not meet code will require the residents to hire another licensed plumber to do the work properly, potentially doubling the cost of the repair or project.”

If you have any information related to these allegations, you are encouraged to contact the City Codes Enforcement Office at 620-421-7054.

A list of current City of Parsons Licensed Contractors (to include heating and air (HVAC), electrical, plumbing, tree trimming, and demolition contractors) which is updated quarterly, is now available online at http://www.parsonsks.com/egov/docs/1390927482_669525.pdf; or by calling 620-421-7054 and requesting a copy.
