Pittsburg Commissioners approve new software

Pittsburg Commissioners approve the purchase of new software, totaling a little more than $100,000. 

Officials say the new system would help keep track of the city's resources. 

The new software is called Lucity, according to companies website it offers data solutions and support for hundreds of public work agencies and users nationwide. 

"Part of the reason we need this is we depend a lot of people's memory," said Pittsburg Public Utilities Director Dr. John Bailey. 

In the past the city used online spread sheets such as Microsoft Excel to track the city's resources. Pittsburg's director of innovation says overtime, the software will be a good investment. 
 
"We're basically looking to acquire a data base system that can give us a data driven decisions," said Director of Innovation Jay Byers. 
 
It could take up to 15 weeks before the software is fully functional.
