The Missouri Southernmen's basketball team will head east to Bolivar on Thursday night to take onSouthwest Baptist University. Tip off from the Meyer Sports Center is slatedfor 7:30 pm.

TheSeries: Southernleads the series 48-41 and and have won five of the last six against SBU afterdropping the previous nine games in a row against the Bearcats.This has been aseries of streaks as from the 1976 season through the 1984-85 season, theseries saw the two teams have streaks of six, seven then six again. SBU'slargest win streak was nine, while the Lions' largest streak is nine done fromthe 98-99 season through the 2001-02 season. Southern is 30-16 at home, while17-25 on the road and 1-0 in neutral site games.

MIAATeam Ranks: TheLions lead the MIAA in scoring margin, field goal defense, field goalpercentage, blocks and offensive rebound percentage. Southern ranks second inscoring offense, scoring defense, steals, rebound margin and three pointdefense, while ranking third in assists and offensive rebounds, and fourth inboth rebounding defense and free-throw percentage.

MIAAIndividual Ranks: The Lions lead the MIAA in scoring margin, field goaldefense, field goal percentage, blocks and offensive rebound percentage.Southern ranks second in scoring offense, scoring defense, steals, reboundmargin and three point defense, while ranking third in assists and offensiverebounds, and fourth in both rebounding defense and free-throwpercentage.    

NationalRanks: TheLions, as a team, rank seventh nationally in scoring margin, while rankingtenth in blocks and 12th in field goal percentage. Southern ranks 14th in totalblocks, 15th in free throws made, while ranking 23rd in field goal defense and24th in win-loss percentage and 25th in scoring offense. The Lions also rank31st in assists per game, 32nd in free-throws attempted and 42nd in totalassists.  

TheLions are perfect when: Missouri Southern is perfect this season when theLions have scored 90+ points (7-0), allowed 69 points or less (7-0), out shootopponents (12-0), make more three's (4-0), and when the game is decided by 20or more points (8-0).      

Passing1,000: MarquisAddison became the newest member of the 1,000 point club at MSSU with 20points against Central Missouri last season. He currently has 1,390 points,moving in front of Terry Shumpert for 9th place all-time in scoring atSouthern. He needs 15 points to pass Matt Olson for 9=8th all-time and is thefourth Lion in the past three seasons to pass 1,000, joining Jason Adams,Skyler Bowlin and Keane Thomann.         
 
Moving Up:With his next steal, Marquis will be in rare company as one of only fourplayers to ever play at MSSU with 200 or more steals. He currently sits infourth place all-time in career steals with 199, 59 behind Hiram Ocasio forthird place. 

Can'tMiss:In the Lions' game against Missouri Western on Jan. 25, Southern had one of itsbest shooting nights ever. The Lions shot 68 percent from the field, 73 percentfrom long-range and 73 percent from the free-throw line. The 68 percent fromthe field was just off the 69.5 percent school record and the 73 percent fromthe three-point line is just off the school record of 75 percent, consequentlyset against Missouri Western in 1991.  

CornWins No. 400: CoachRobert Corn won his 400th career game on Jan. 15, 2014 in a 70-50 win at homeover Lindenwood He now has 402 wins and is second among active coaches (BobChipman). 

Three PointStreak: The Lions failed to make a three-pointer atArkansas Tech in their match-up in 2012-13. It was the first time in 403 gamesthat Southern had failed to hit a three pointer, dating back to Jan. 20, 1999against Missouri S&T. The Lions have had a three in 39-straight games sinceArkansas Tech in 2012-13. 

Points a Plenty: Withthe 101 points scored against Ottawa, it is the first time in the program'shistory the Lions have scored at least 100 points or more in three-straightgames. The Lions have scored 100 or more in 66 games in the program's history,including six times in the 85-86 season. 
 

UpNext:The Lions will head to Central Missouri this Saturday, before turning aroundand playing host to the Mules a week from Saturday at the Leggett & PlattAthletic Center.

As the Oklahoma Freewheel comes to a close, the Big Bam Ride begins in Joplin.  After riding 425 miles across Oklahoma and Kansas, roughly five hundred cyclists will be departing on a five-day cycling tour  along historic route 66  for the Big Bam ride.
