Jeronimus Earns Academic All-District Honors

Pittsburg State women's basketball juniorforward Lizzy Jeronimus has earned Captial One Academic All-District honors forthe second-time in her career. She is now eligible for Academic All-Americahonors.

Jeronimus has a 3.78 GPA as a management major. She is the ony player on thefive-member All-District 7 team that is not a senior.

The 5-11 forward from Lenexa, Kan. leads the Gorillas with 19.5 points and 7.1rebounds per game. She also leads the team in assists (2.1 apg), steals (19)and free throw percentage (.823). She is second in the MIAA for both scoringand free throw percentage.

For her career, Jeronimus is one of only seven players in school history tohave scored over 1,000 points and grabbed over 500 rebounds with 1410 pointsand 547 rebounds. She ranks eighth for career scoring and 10th for careerrebounds. She is also just 27 assists from ranking among the top 10 in careerassists and will be only the second player in school history to rank in the top10 for career points, rebounds and assists.

The Capital One Academic All-District teams are chosen by the the CollegeSports Information Directors of American and are voted on by sports informationdirectors in each respective district. First, second and third team AcademicAll-Americans will be chosen from among the all-district honorees.

    Muriece Scholes, 77, of rural Frontenac, Ks enters a plea deal for shooting a Pittsburg man. The crime happened on June 4th, 2017, near 940 S. 250th Street in Crawford County, Kansas. Dispatch received a call about a man being shot. Deputies responded and found 42-year-old Warren Hill with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.     A jury finds James Henneha guilty of first degree murder in the death of 38-year-old Tonya Crawford. Closing arguments were delivered this morning (Nov. 15, 2018) and the jury retired at 9:58 a.m. The jury was then seated at 1:28 p.m. and read the following, " WE, THE JURY, FIND THE DEFENDANT JAMES WARREN HENNEHA GUILTY OF MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE AS SUBMITTED IN INSTRUCTION NO. 5."
